Omaha Man Found Guilty of First Degree Murder

Jaquez Clifton of Omaha was found guilty today in Douglas County District Court of First Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony in the July 20, 2014 death of Frank "Red" Sanders. After a seven day trial, jurors deliberated nearly seven hours before reaching their verdict.

Frank Sanders was shot in his home during a drug transaction that turned into a robbery.

The Nebraska State Attorney General's Office was asked by the Douglas County Attorney's Office to handle the case because of a conflict of interest. Assistant Attorneys General Mike Guinan and Matt Lierman prosecuted the case.

Clifton is facing life in prison. Sentencing is set for December 1, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.
