Chauncey Sentenced to 80 Years for Death of a Child

Dustin Chauncey was sentenced today in District Court to 80 years to life for the death of a child. Chauncey was charged with Intentional Child Abuse resulting in the death of a two year-old child. The child was Juliette Geurts and she died as a result of blunt force trauma. Her liver was ruptured and she had a head injury. Chauncey’s sentence of 80 years to life resulted this morning in Scotts Bluff County District Court. The incident occurred in July of 2008.

Jim Zimmerman, the Banner County Attorney was appointed as the Special Prosecutor as a Grand Jury indicted Dustin Chauncey. The Grand Jury was convened as a result of a petition drive in Scotts Bluff County. Assistant Attorney General Doug Warner assisted Mr. Zimmerman.
