Spoofing is a tactic scam callers use to manipulate your caller ID to display any number they want, including those in your local area, to trick you into answering.  To protect yourself from spoofing, consider taking the following actions:

• Ask your local phone carrier what call blocking options they offer.
• Look into free call-blocking apps for your cell phone.

3D Consumer Alert is a series of 60-second educational radio spots written and produced by the Consumer Protection Division of the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office.
